Reviewed August 2026. Visa rules and appointment procedures can change. Always verify the current official instructions before applying.
A detailed Schengen visa guide for applicants living in Canada, covering the main-destination rule, document planning, appointment preparation and the short-stay application process.
Start with the responsible Schengen country
For a multi-country trip, the correct application authority is normally the country that is your main destination. This is usually where you will spend the longest time or where the main purpose of the trip takes place. When stays are equal, the first country of entry may become relevant under the official rules.
Short-stay planning
A Schengen short-stay visa can allow travel for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, subject to the visa issued and border checks. Your itinerary should be realistic and consistent with hotel, invitation, transportation and leave-from-work evidence.
Common starting documents
- Valid passport and required copies
- Proof of valid status in Canada
- Completed visa application and appointment confirmation
- Recent compliant photographs
- Travel medical insurance that meets the current Schengen requirements
- Accommodation and transportation plan
- Employment, business or study evidence
- Bank statements and proof of funding
- Invitation and relationship evidence when relevant
- Cover letter explaining the itinerary and purpose
Appointment preparation
Check the official website for the embassy, consulate or external visa service provider that handles applications in your Canadian jurisdiction. Appointment availability changes and Euro Holidays cannot guarantee or create official appointment inventory.
File consistency matters
Dates across your form, employer letter, itinerary, insurance and reservations should align. If funds include recent large deposits or sponsorship, explain them with supporting records. Previous refusals should be disclosed where required and addressed honestly.
How Euro Holidays can assist
We can help identify the likely responsible Schengen country, create a case-specific checklist, organize appointment information, review forms and documents, and prepare itinerary or cover-letter guidance. The consular authority makes the final decision.
Need case-specific support?
Use the Euro Holidays inquiry form to share your passport nationality, current status in Canada, destination, intended travel date and the type of help you need. Do not send passports or bank statements through the public inquiry form.
